This page says what TextRail stores, why, who else sees it and when it is deleted. We keep as little as the service needs. We don’t sell data, and we show no ads.
What we store
- Your account: your email, phone number and a hash of your password. We use them to sign you in and to reach you about your account.
- API keys: a hash and the first few characters. We can’t show a key again after creating it.
- Messages: the recipient’s number, the text, its status and times. We need these to send the message and to show you what happened.
- Verification codes: a hash of each code, never the code in readable form after it is sent.
- Payments: a record of each top-up and charge, and your Stripe customer reference. Stripe holds your card details. We never see them.
- Security records: IP addresses of sign-ins and account actions, to protect accounts and investigate abuse.
How long we keep it
Message text is deleted 24 hours after a message finishes. The record that a message was sent, to which number, stays for your history, and history shows the number masked.
Your account details stay while your account is open. Payment records are kept as long as accounting and tax rules require.
Who else sees it
- Mobile carriers carry each message, so they see the number and the text.
- Stripe processes top-ups.
- Our email provider delivers account emails.
- Our infrastructure providers host the network in front of the service, and encrypted database backups.
We also share data if the law requires it.
Cookies
When you sign in we set one cookie to keep you signed in. The site has no analytics and no advertising cookies. Your browser remembers whether you prefer curl or Node examples, and that stays on your device.
People who receive messages
If you got a text sent through TextRail, the business that wrote it decided to contact you, and it is the right place to ask why or to stop. Your number is in our records only because that business gave it to us.
Your choices
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account. Records we must keep by law stay until that duty ends.
Changes
We’ll update this page when what we store changes. The date at the top shows the latest version.
